It's finally cooled off enough for me to wear a pair of real pants! Yay!
I hate to whine, really, but it's been *miserably* hot here. I know how many times I've said that I don't get hot easily, that I don't really notice the heat. Which, for the most part, I don't. But when I come in from two hours of riding bikes up hills in the midday summer sun, to a building with no air conditioning, in a room with a window on the south side, in 96 degree weather...
I notice.
It's gotten a lot better now that I have the fridge, even though the fridge actually made the room perceptively warmer the first time I plugged it in. But the worst part of all the heat was knowing that I *had* to drink a lot of water to make up for how much I was losing, but I didn't want to because all the water was *warm.* Now that I can have chilled water to drink, I feel a lot better about it.
Anyway, things are going pretty well. All I'm waiting on now is my Japanese textbooks -- I realize I've forgotten all the japanese I ever knew, and while it's coming back to me, I *really really* need those textbooks to review! I kind of wish I hadn't had to throw out my JP binder from last year, but I could neither feasibly store it, ship it, nor carry it with me. So -- out it went.
Aoi, K-chan, and Kochou are absolutely awesome! ^_^ I've been feeling a bit lonely, and also a bit cramped with really nowhere to go except the campuses and the village. But this weekend K-chan invited me to go down into LA to a club where a friend of hers was playing in a band. I hope I'm not being snotty in saying that the club sucked rather -- or at least the opening act did, ouch -- but I still had a lot of fun. (Though I saw one really creepy couple, this old guy with this young, pretty Asian young woman. She was way too elegant to be in that sort of club.)
But anyway, after we left the club we walked down Hollywood Blvd. I got to see the hand-feet-thing-in-concrete, and the stars in the sidewalk. I also passed four tattoo parlors in three blocks, and five sex toy/apparel shops in four blocks. So trashy. Hee.
Anyway, then we went to pick up Kochou and went to Denny's to eat and talk. Sera, I'm supposed to campaign to get you to write something het.
Overall I had a great time. Except for leaving my sunglasses in Aoi-chan's car. Doh!
