Sick today. Ended up coming home early... didn't want to have to call in this week, but by 9 AM I was dizzy and lightheaded and could not focus on work. (Which led to my calls becoming increasingly hilarious: "This is the help desk, can I confirm your first and last number please?") If I were still in Japan, I would have just put a paper mask over my face to signify my martyrdom and kept working. Came home after half a day; unsurprisingly, the roads around my house are snowed over and not plowed or salted. Getting TO work tomorrow should be fun. :(

I slept for five hours and don't feel dizzy any more, which is good -- but I never did eat lunch, which is bad. Time to make some dinner...

When I turned on the iPhone just now (8:15 AM CST) it said "Winter Weather Advisory for Seattle Bremerton Area, WA Until Further Notice."

Why our phone gives Seattle weather advisories, I don't know, unless your father has been fooling with the settings again!

Well, it wasn't an unfounded weather advisory.

The roads around my house were completely iced/snowed over this morning. I tried to get to work anyway, but when going down a big hill, tried to brake and ended up fishtailing off the road into the ditch.

Fortunately there was a kind passerby with a truck and chains who was able to pull me out -- fortunately since the two tow truck places I called had a four-hour waiting list.

I am back home now and don't intend to try to get to work again today.
