So.

I think this is the worst haircut I've ever had in my life, not excluding the time when I was eight and cut my bangs off in the mirror.

Oh, crap :(
Maybe it needs to settle for a few days?

Or a few weeks.

I'm sorry to hear that happened! Bad hair is always such a worry.

If they're a good hairdresser, they'll cut it into a better style for free. I think over here there's even a law about that. Good luck fixing things!

Alas, this is not a cut that can be fixed by more cutting.

Ugh, that sucks!

Might be worth going back to the salon and complaining. I know that can be very hard to do when you're a non-confrontational person, but sometimes stylists screw up, and the salon should be held accountable. You may not need to be confrontational about it at all, especially if it's obviously messed up and not just that it's not what you wanted (but even if that's not the case, the fact that you hate it should be enough to convince them to make it better). They may be able to fix it, and for free. Obviously you'd want someone other than the person who did the original cut to do the fixing (like the owner).

Alternatvely, you could go to another salon and have them do a rescue.

I did end up going back to the salon and asking for a refund -- you're right that I'm not a very nonconfrontational person, and it's not like I wanted to get the stylist in trouble, but it's bad enough that I have to live with this cut without having to pay money for it, too.

I did actually catch the salon owner, and I'm glad I did, because she's the only one who can give refunds. She said to come back in a few weeks and she would try to fix it up then. So I will be going back there after all.

Good, good. Salons rely so much on word of mouth advertising that they will often go out of their way to try and compensate a very unhappy customer. And the only way you'll get the stylist in trouble is if she does this routinely, in which case she probably should be in trouble, and that's not on you.

oh, huggles! i'm sorry to hear that. it's rough when something like that goes badly.
I agree that there should be some sort of recourse available from the salon. good luck!

The salon owner was pretty understanding, so I guess I won't boycott the place forever after all.
