...may best be summed up by Something Positive's strip on the subject:

Also, on the subject of the floods of Obamerchandise that's hit the stores; I think I will always value my $5.00, 2-inch "Obama for president" button that I bought from a fundraiser more than I could any kind of Obama collective plate or memorial coin. (We won't even touch on the toilet paper.)

And finally, on the subject of expectations:
I am sure that Obama will do many things I don't agree with, and many things that disappoint me. But so long as he governs with intelligence, compassion, and most importantly integrity -- three qualities that have been missing from our top office not only in the past eight years, but in the past twenty years or more -- I will consider all my expectations upheld.

Word.

"Small world" moment: that comic is drawn by a friend of my friend Joye, and he's mentioned her, if not in his strip (I forget if he has) then definitely in his commentary beneath it. Heh!

"Twenty years or more" -- yah, I would say, 28 years to be more precise. The cry for intelligence, compassion and integrity is what brought Jimmy Carter to the Presidency in 1976. Unfortunately, by four years later we had collectively decided that that was not what we wanted after all. Give us illusions, "bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" and cheap gas, no matter how suicidal those things would be in the long run.

True, but I'm also thinking that Obama is somewhat more politically smooth than Carter was.
