how I spent my holidays
Dec. 30th, 2008 10:55 pmSo I went to Boston this year instead of Texas, and spent the holidays with my sisters in my sister's and her fiance's apartment. It was a much nicer apartment than mine and I am jealous. It would have been a very enjoyable holiday had I not, in my usual way of doing things, gotten sick.
I get sick on vacations more often than not, either because of traveling, the stress of traveling, or the sudden release of whatever day to day stress I have in my normal life. Whatever it is, usually it hits me at the beginning of my vacation thus rendering the vacation sedate and sickly. Instead, this time around it hit me at the end of the vacation, spoiling several plans we'd made for the last few days and making the trip back pretty damn miserable. (This, combined with the zombie-period that never ends, onspired to quash a lot of the fun of visiting Boston.)
There were delays on the trip out, resulting in missing my connecting flight and overnighting in Dallas with my aunt and uncle who live there (sadly, I did not have their christmas presents on hand.) On the way back the delays were not as bad, but I was still late enough arriving in Seattle that Dave had almost given up waiting for me and gone home. But home I am, after all. Hungry and nauseous and cold and head-throbby and short of breath and exhausted, but glad to be home.
