Oh, my god.

In essence, we do not have a fair fight. Obama has always liked it that way when it comes to his campaigns.... revealing that he did not care about a level playing field .

Apparently, Obama is 'buying' his way to the presidency, which as we all know is only permissible when traditionally affluent families are doing the buying.

You hear that? By raising and spending campaign money, Obama is cheating. Once again I can't even bring myself to be annoyed, I'm laughing too hard.

So... for the first time in decades, Demos have managed to outspend Reps in terms of ads, because for the first time in decades, small-time voter contributions have outweighed lobbyist bucket contributions. And now that the dems have more money for the first time in decades, now it's unfair and unethical to outspend your political opponent.

Cry moar, repubs. Your tears taste like delicious candy.

To quote from the article:

How a candidate runs his campaign is an important indicator of the character of the man or woman we may elect.

I found that particularly ironic, given how nasty McCain's campaign has been.

Now that it has begun to dawn on the Beltway Establishment that a Democrat is likely to win the Presidency -- an uncoƶpted Democrat at that (sorry about that, Bill and Hillary) -- they are beginning to panic. Paul Krugman today links to a Newsweek essay to the effect that Barack Obama better watch out, that America is a really, really conservative country and that unless he governs just like Bush did, he will lose the country. Also note that it is not the size of Obama's funds that disconcerts this bastard, but the fact that it came from small donors who cannot possibly be trying to buy influence or favors: he could come in as his own man!

Just think, the ordinary people will have him in their back pocket. He'll be totally indebted to the average voter for his presidency.

To be fair, that's a very untrustworthy and anti-American constituency. Why, most of them don't even come from small towns!

Oh, lots of 'em do, though -- the small-town residents who have caught on that the Republican party does not actually represent their interests. They are out there, in hearteningly ever-increasing numbers, as far as I can tell.

Yes, that was a quote I particularly liked. Small donors, ABOUT WHOM LITTLE IS KNOWN! Hear that, Mr. Joe-on-the-street-donated-five-dollars-to-the-Obama-campaign? You are the new threat to democracy! Why, I bet you pal around with terrists.

Well, that's unfair, it's not 'new' that republicans consider average citizens/voters their biggest threat.

No, Joe-on-the-street doesn't like Mr Obama because he fully intends to make over $250,000 some day (don't all REAL Americans end up making over $250,000 a year, after all? -- that's not counting those lazy welfare queens and job-stealing illegal immigrants, of course), and doesn't want to be taxed when that happens. Clearly you haven't been paying attention at all!

Before even reading the article, I'm boggling at the concept of a white pundit (yes, I am making an assumption, there) accusing a black politician of taking advantage of non-"level playing field." Because white conservatives are traditionally SO concerned with making sure the playing field is level for everyone, no matter your gender, ethnicity or socioeconomic status, right?

After reading the article: Right. We only want the other side to "play fair." Oh, and we get to define what constitutes "playing fair"... but we don't have to do it ourselves, of course.

It wasn't even that well written article as well.

I like how Obama's big donors are fat cats (The writer actually says that? What the hell? Do you really want to be pointing fingers?). Cos, you know, Republicans donors are well respected members of the community.
