This morning I got a call from the apartment complex. It seems they approved me after all. I was sure they wouldn't because I wasn't employed. But I turned them down because 1) they didn't allow pets under any circumstances, 2) there was a headache-inducing smell lingering (from the previous pets, sadly) and 3rd and most importantly because it was way more space than I needed and I just didn't want to pay that much for space I didn't need.

Should I have taken it? It was otherwise a perfectly serviceable apartment. And I didn't really expect to get approved. And I can't keep sleeping on [livejournal.com profile] cryogenia's floor forever. And I haven't heard from any other apartment place yet.

This is driving me crazy...

Now I have to go write a resume. argh.

To be honest, I think you made the right decision. Because you and I both know that if an apartment already feels bad from the beginning (and that especially goes for smells and too much rent) it's better to wait for the next opportunity. What if you had taken the apartment? You'd be totally unhappy.
So now you're... er, unhappy, but with more opporunities! :D

No. You made the right decision. You're lucky that you don't have an OMG-must-be-out-by-midnight-next-Saturday type deadline; that means you don't have to take apartments that just aren't what you want, like that one.

I agree. There's nothing worse than figuring out that you have a bad apartment or landlord after you've signed the lease. Take your time and consider carefully. Where you live can make a big impact on your quality of life.

You have to remember that you're only going to want to move once, right? So taking a substandard place you're going to want to move out of some months down the line is a needless headache all around. And since I presume Cryo wouldn't dream of NOT helping you move, it would suck for her to help you move twice.

Moreover, until you know where you will be working, there's no way of saying if that situation will turn out to be massively inconvenient for transit to and from work.

So you made the right call. I think getting a job comes first, anyway. :D
