May. 12th, 2008 12:54 pmEven though I vowed to myself that I wouldn’t buy any more clothes,* I am now the proud owner of a t-shirt that declares in bright cheerful letters, “CALIFORNIA: Surely Exist!” I know I will go about my day reassured that California does, in fact, surely exist.
*This is because in three months, I’m going to have to leave the country. And at that time, I’m going to be faced with three categories of stuff: stuff I can carry on the plane by hand, stuff I can pay money to ship back to the US, and stuff that I can sell, give, or throw away.
I CAN’T HAVE ANY MORE STUFF. Not so much an issue of storage, as of carriage, so to speak. So, therefore, I am proposing that my birthday – which is usually May 18th – be moved this year to August 18th. At that point I’ll be back in the States, (hopefully) settled into a new home, and in a great mood for people to give me presents.
