Today's amusing english-language-learning story:

Conversation class today with the Frontier students (lower level.) We were doing "likes and dislikes" and "have you ever..." Taking my turn with the class, one of my students asks me if I have ever had Parkinson's.

Me: o______O

Him: Etto... Parkinsons? *flaps his hands to each side in demonstration*

Me: O____________o

Him: Drums? Music? *repeats the pounding-to-each-side motion*

Me: Oh! You mean percussion!


Lesson of the day, kids: Stress and intonation matters. It really, really matters. XD

My favorite is the band called "Porno Graffiti" which is abbreviated "Porno-graphi". Thus, one of the students was doing his lovely self-intro, which included the immortal sentence,"I like Pornography."

I know it shouldn't be so funny, but I just about collapsed. Really.

Maybe I need to get out more or something...

Oh gosh, I love Porno Graffiti. They're actually my favorite J-band ever. I didn't realize that was the abbreviation for them. I wonder if they chose that name on purpose for that reason..,?

To be honest, I'm too lazy to try to keep up with all the J-pop groups, since they cycle through so fast. I kinda liked that single by ORANGE RANGE tho'...
