Japan LIES
Mar. 6th, 2007 08:47 pmOkay, so, after a whole weekend of downright balmy weather -- some rain, some sun, temperatures approaching the 60s -- I was even having to turn off the heaters inside the apartment, or get sweltering. Come Monday it was still warm, albeit windy as hell -- the wind blew everything off the line, even using clothespins, including the thermometer. (News reports later said that 6 trucks had been blown over on the highway, and a window had broken at a school, injuring two students.)
So I'm thinking, oh hay, spring is here! Though I made a bet with myself that we would get at least one surprise winter storm before real spring came. And I turned out to be right on that -- today temperatures plunged, and we got frozen rain and snow. And not the fun kind of snow. The kind of snow that falls sideways.
I just hope the weather is better by tomorrow, bah. What do you call it when March comes in like a lion?
In other news, I got what I thought was a credit card application through my internet service here, so I got my supervisor to help me fill it out and sent it off today. I hope it got done right (and that they don't mind the water damage it took from being in my backpack during this weather.) With any luck, I will fairly soon be in posession of a Japan-based credit card, at which point I will no longer have to drain money out of my U.S. bank accounts to buy stuff from Amazon Japan.
