So, I've gotten back to Japan, and I'm mostly just posting to let people know I arrived all right, after 27 straight hours of traveling. I don't think [livejournal.com profile] aging_parents quite believed me when I quoted them that number, but it is currently 9 AM in Austin, Texas. I left my parents' house in Austin at 6 AM -- yesterday.

And of course, when I got here it was storming and raining heavily, and I walked back to my apartment from the train station, at 11:30 PM, with all luggage in tow. Bah.

I should just be grateful that I made it back to Toyama station in time to catch the 11:18 train out to Takayama -- if the line at Shin-Osaka had been five minutes longer, I wouldn't have, and I would be spending the night at the train station right now. Fun.

So, I'm back, and happy that none of my utilities have been shut off while I was gone, nor has my apartment caved in from snow. Yay!

One thing I more or less ended up getting for Christmas (I realized just now that I don't think I paid you back for half it, [livejournal.com profile] aging_parents, was a sweet little external hard drive, which I lugged back to Japan with me -- to only just now realize that the plug is (of course) three-prong, and Japanese outlets only have two prongs! Well, uh, I guess it's the home center for me tomorrow? They might have something, maybe?

Ooh, thunder. I'll go back to eating my pop-tarts in peace.

Glad to hear that you are safely back, and we did believe you about the travel time. We just couldn't do anything about it, and are glad it isn't us! Although, if you do stay in Japan, someday it will be us. We can't have a daughter in Japan for 2-3 years and not take the opportunity to visit.

Glad to hear you made it back safe! If you can't find an adaptor, let me know, I might have one!

Glad to know you got there safe and sound! I'd say Japan is probably used to American visitors not knowing in advance that they'd need converters... but if I'm remembering right you're not in a terribly touristy area, are you? :/ Ne, good luck finding one. ^_~
