Nother update from the internet cafe, also short. Thank you everyone for your comments of support. Met with some of the other JETs last night; it was a lot of fun party but I didn't get as much information and answers to questions as I was hoping. (Ask me about the sparrows, ahahaha.) I miss the internet! Not just for fun and games -- I rely on it for all my information gathering needs. For instance, how am I suppose to use Google maps to look up a denki place near my place where I can go and ask about hikari, if I don't have internet? So frustrating.

Something I have mixed feelings about: Hayashi-sensei keeps telling me that I don't need to come into school until the 21st. I've repeated the question, and he's repeated the answer enough times that I'm pretty sure he really means it, it's not just a polite nothing offering. So in theory that's awesome, I really do need the time to settle in -- but still! I really really think I need to go in to meet and talk with some of my other English teachers (don't think I met them all last time) to get caught up on the curriculum and get a clearer idea of what I need to do. Aside from working on a self-introduction, which I haven't started at all, oops. Also have not cleaned up the apartment, or done laundry, or cooked a meal more complicated than pasta.

Tomorrow I'm going into Toyama (via the train, wee, I can successfully use the train!) to go shopping with two other JETs. No pleasure trip -- so many things I need to buy! There don't seem to be any conbinis or hyaku-en stores near my apartment, which is weird. Perhaps google maps can tell me more.

Ahh, my bad. denki = electronics, hikari = fiber optic cable. conbini = convenience store, hyaku-en = dollar store. (more or less)

Sounds like things are going better! I hope you get internet at your place soon! (I always wanted to do JET, so I am living vicariously through you.)
