[livejournal.com profile] alphasean, please call me sometime tomorrow (sometime after 2 PM, just so I'll be coherent. :)) I've just gone through yet ANOTHER round of Cingular-rassling, phone-swapping, and software-resetting... and yes, my phone has forgotten ALL its numbers now. Also, I was thinking of you and missing you a lot today and even if we can't meet this weekend, I'd like to talk with you some tomorrow.

So, maybe this time my phone problems have finally, FINALLY gotten sorted out. I raged out most of my fury earlier today, when I was literally in tears of frustration and anger, and now I don't have the energy or the time and I'm not really the type to hold grudges if I think the problem has been resolved. Besides, the Cingular people have mostly been very nice, helpful and sympathetic, saying things like "I understand that this must be very frustrating for you" (well, THEY'D BETTER, considering that I have been without basic useable cell phone functioning -- I'm talking being able to turn on the phone and make a call 100% of the time, be able to access my stored numbers, messages, or log of calls; this is not fancy stuff, this is the most BASIC service -- for OVER A YEAR at this point, and even brand-new handsets were malfunctioning on me) and generally doing everything in their power to help me. Still, while I can accept each step in the road -- go here, call this number, fill out this form, go there, do this, get that, talk to this person, call this number again -- as a small effort to take to get basic, reliable, functioning service (and it has not cost me much of anything financially) the cumulative effect of the delays and runaround has been very... trying.

Hopefully that's done with now. Hopefully.

Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that my parents and sisters are all on Cingular and I should theoretically (theoretically) be able to talk with them for free, I would have gone over to Verizon months ago. And I will bear an eternal grudge against the LG phone line, whose handsets have never, never worked right for me on the first try, and I will never willingly get one of their phones again.

Motorola phones have been good to me.

I've been really frustrated with Cingular myself, but I was talking to people who have Verizon recently and they're having the exact same trouble I am (of not having any cell phone signal in the middle of a #@^#!%@ major metropolitan area). So maybe it wouldn't be any improvement, after all.

My next phone, though, I'm gonna insist on a retractable antenna, I think.

It's better for the brain-cancer anyway.
