In my mailbox this morning I got a couple graduation-themed stuffs from my school. At first I was worried that there might be a low-grade notice, but it turned out to be all good news, not bad. One of them was a letter saying "congratulations on your impending graduation!" although I think that's just
hype since I haven't yet completed my graduation requirements and how do they know I will? But it was a bright and encouraging letter all the same. It listed the graduation requirements, most of which I've got; they want 32 credits, of which I currently have 27, and by the end of this semester if I complete all my classes I'll have... 31. Woot!

I've completed all but two of the courses required for my major, which means that in theory, next semester I only have to take two classes, for that requirement. With my 'senior independant study' which is just an official way of saying "hey, I'm writing my thesis!" which I don't actually *have* to do but am going to do anyway cause I'm a masochist, that brings me up to three courses which is the minimum for 'full time student' status. Between my community service requirement, my senior thesis, my two jobs, and my classes, I think I'll have enough next semester to keep me busy.

The school also left me a letter saying I've been selected from the John Stauffer Scholarship Award, which I'd never heard of: I don't get any money or anything, but it looks pretty on my diploma. (Which is otherwise rather unvarnished I admit.)

I don't know if I'm psyched up to graduate yet. I think Pitzer is trying to get me all excited but it feels a little like seeing Christmas decorations in September. I still dun know what I wanna be when I grow up!

In other news, San Fransisco was awesome. Psst: [livejournal.com profile] nekojita: I still have your belt! I tried to call you or find you again but no luck. Email me to let me know how I can get it back to you?

Students get so comfortable with the predictability of college life (yes it is hard work, but somebody has structured things for you -- it's the same reason they are able to recruit people into the army) that the college starts reminding them gently early in senior year that all things come to an end.

Congrats on the John Stauffer Award. For distinguished work in a science related major?
