Except of course you probably can't venture to UCLA to retrieve the wallet in the rain. I'm sure So Californians have no idea how to drive in rain anyway.

Actually, I drove BACK from UCLA in the rain. Venturing to UCLA to retrieve the wallet without the wallet is the bigger issue. D:

You found it? Shannon left her purse in Jack in the Box today. We went back 30 minutes later and it was still there under the table. Whew! Although, as she said, all a thief would get is one unlikely-to-be-used condom that I make her keep in her purse.

Actually, I didn't even miss it -- Sean called me to let me know he had it. The problem is that it's a 90-minute drive over CA freeways between here and UCLA, without a license. ;_;

go get your wallet. unless you've already done so. if the cops pull you over, explain the situation and they can follow you to the wallet to get your license. you are legitimately able to do this.
and hey, at least someone found it!

driving w/o a license

The law says you have to HAVE a license, and expects you to prove it by having it on your person, but if you do have one but don't have it on your person, the police can run you through their computer (most police cars have on-board computers now) and verify your license status.

People do misplace their licences, and as long as it can be established that you do have a valid license, you shouldn't get in trouble.

(We had to check this out summer of '04 when your father's wallet ended up in the landfill. If you recall ....)

Wallet sent! You'll get it in the mail tomorrow. Also, the cost looks about the same as it would be as if you had simply driven down here and picked it up. It's win-win! ...Unless it gets lost in the mail or something.
