art?

One of the interesting things about going to Pitzer is that I'm never sure what's someone's final art project and what's not. Ceramic representation of a sloth hanging from one of the trees above the hammock? Probably art. 100x50 meter arrangement of red, white, and blue postcards arranged on sticks in the sports field? Probably art. Pale woman holding an oxygen canister lying on a hospital bed, apparently comatose, in the dining hall during dinner hours? ...Probably art. Or performance art, what have you.

But what about the white picket fence set up around the lawn in front of the dining hall? Or the brown paper shell trailing multicolored wires from a tree? Art or function? I really don't know any more.

Ew, I don't think I'd like that kind of performance art while I'm eating. Performance art kinda weirds me out, anyway.

It was... interesting, to say the least. The overall effect -- pale woman, nearly white hair, white hospital sheets -- was kinda aesthetically pleasing. I'm pretty sure it was a real person and not a mannequin, although it was hard to tell, since she didn't move an inch the whole time I was there.

What, you didn't go up and poke her? ^^;

Hands full. Plus it seemed kinda rude. It was interesting, the way the crowd (it was pretty crowded) parted around her.
