regularly scheduled update
Apr. 27th, 2005 03:07 amI officially apologize to
windandwater and anyone else I may have teased about inability to handle small spiders. I just had a run-in with a spider that was not even particularly large, but scary nonetheless. Saw it crawling in and out of my wall/corner by my computer for a while ago, couldn't get a clear shot at it. Finally this evening it came out in the open, enough for me to get a smack at it with a piece of paper. Not only did I not get it, but it ran -- FAST little sucker -- and hid under my keyboard.
...
Then it ran for my mouse. I swear it knew what I was after and was trying to get at me. o_o
Finally induced it to fall off the desk onto the floor where it was squashed with the heavy foot o'doom. Goodbye, spidey.
Since I realized at some point recently that this is my most reliable method of tracking my daily life, since I won't remember anything a few months from now, thought I'd do a general update. Right now I'm in the middle of term papers and finals for my 4 classes; Japanese, Ancient Technology, Neurobiology, and Philosophy of Science. (paraphrased) Finals suck. I hate Japanese. That is all.
I'm also in the middle of securing an apartment, which should be done now unless something goes wrong. Went over to Parc Claremont today to drop off the rest of the security deposit -- Joseph should be paying me back for the rest of it sometime soon. Was amused somewhat to see that that particular block actually has three apartment complexes right next to each other -- PC, Pebble Grove, and a third I didn't catch the name of. It seems to be pretty swank, manicured lawns and gated communities; across the street is commercial area. There's a liquor/convenience food store at the end of the block, where I picked up my cashier's check -- the office lady told me it was there, but confided that she "wouldn't go in there," I presume because it's somewhat downscale and run by a Hispanic family.
Should be interesting. Pebble Grove had some sort of sign saying "no bicycles," and I hope that that either doesn't apply to PC as well, or doesn't apply to residents, because damned if I'm not going to bike to school every day I can.
Schedule for next semester is worked out. I am psyched.
Monday: Class 9AM-noon, class 7PM-10PM
Tuesday: Class noon-4PM
Wednesday: No class
Thursday: Class noon-4PM
Friday: No class
Dude.
Obviously schedule will be dependant on whatever job I get -- probably IT helpdesk again, since Joanne shows no sign of getting sick of me yet -- but I like this only-having-to-get-up-early-once-a-week thing.
That's all next semester. For the summer, I'm still looking for a job. ARGH I forgot to drop off my application at career services AGAIN! Have applied for a position there, and also at Honnold Mudd Library... when will they let me know? *frets* I hate job hunting. I can't even look for a full time position because of my three-days-a-week class.
This Friday is my lab final. Next week is the last week of classes. Next weekend (not this one) is moving time. Next weekend after that is San Fran.
After that... well, who knows?
