good school news
Oct. 31st, 2005 12:35 pmIn my mailbox this morning I got a couple graduation-themed stuffs from my school. At first I was worried that there might be a low-grade notice, but it turned out to be all good news, not bad. One of them was a letter saying "congratulations on your impending graduation!" although I think that's just
hype since I haven't yet completed my graduation requirements and how do they know I will? But it was a bright and encouraging letter all the same. It listed the graduation requirements, most of which I've got; they want 32 credits, of which I currently have 27, and by the end of this semester if I complete all my classes I'll have... 31. Woot!
I've completed all but two of the courses required for my major, which means that in theory, next semester I only have to take two classes, for that requirement. With my 'senior independant study' which is just an official way of saying "hey, I'm writing my thesis!" which I don't actually *have* to do but am going to do anyway cause I'm a masochist, that brings me up to three courses which is the minimum for 'full time student' status. Between my community service requirement, my senior thesis, my two jobs, and my classes, I think I'll have enough next semester to keep me busy.
The school also left me a letter saying I've been selected from the John Stauffer Scholarship Award, which I'd never heard of: I don't get any money or anything, but it looks pretty on my diploma. (Which is otherwise rather unvarnished I admit.)
I don't know if I'm psyched up to graduate yet. I think Pitzer is trying to get me all excited but it feels a little like seeing Christmas decorations in September. I still dun know what I wanna be when I grow up!
