bad news

Though not as bad as it could be.

I heard from my sister this evening that the puppy, Arwen, was hit by a car. My sister was taking her out for a walk, along a road near the house, and Arwen pulled the leash out of her hand and ran out into the street. Fortunately, she's a short enough puppy that the car largely passed over her, and she seems to only be suffering some broken bones. She's in a veterinary hospital now, and will probably undergo surgery on Monday.

My father and sister are taking this very hard. I don't blame them. I keep hearing in my head the noise that Arwen makes when she gets hurt.
