About one in seven women will be raped at some time during her life. Sixty percent of the rape victims are under the age of eighteen; half of those are under the age of eleven. More than eighty percent of the rapes are committed by acquaintances or relatives.
What. The. Fuck kind of sick world do we live in? How the fuck can people carry around the idea in their heads that this isn't a problem we should care about?
Studies also show that women rank statistically higher for just about every kind of fear disorder on the board, including anxiety disorders, stress disorders (both acute and post-traumatic) and also that they exhibit nearly double the incidence of learned helplessness symptoms. Gee. Can't imagine why that could be.
[edit] I've also been abruptly reinforced in my belief that we need to give people mandantory psychological evaluations before they're allowed to have kids. Right to procreate can go fuck itself, there are too many people who just should not have care of a small child. Jesus god.
