Commercial holiday season. But I'm thinking about doing my Christmas shopping early this season, if for no other reason than I pretty much do it all online so I have to worry about shipping times. Then there's this: Amazon.com is offering me a rebate if I do my shopping before Thanksgiving, I can get $10 back. I'm just poor enough that that $10 is no trifle, mind you. So...

If you are a sister, a parent, or an SAH member, I need to know what you want for Christmas. Preferably, something of a book format or other thing that can be bought through amazon.com. >_>; I know you people. This will not be a hardship for you. :p

If you are not a sister, a parent or an SAH member, then I can't afford to buy you a present. However! Then we come to the matter of holiday cards. Every year I buy a box of holiday cards from http://www.thehungersite.com or one of its affiliates, and find people to send them to. So, if you would like a holiday card from me, post a response here with your address and I hope to include you on the list.

Also note: Card-sized envelopes that can be shipped through the mail can also carry CDs in them. Therefore, I can offer one disk of Stuff per card. That's three episodes of anime, a whole bunch of music, or AMVs, etc.

Whee.

You know, I'd quite fancy another book in the Elements of Writing Series. Someone recommended me one called 'Action, Suspence and Conflict' or something along those lines. If that's not enough details, let me know and I'll hunt out the post.

Also, is there anything you would like Mikke? I'd like to get Christmas stuff out of the way before I head home to New Zealand. ^_^

I threw some affordable book type things on my amazon wish list. (Hint: the gift of laughter is always appropriate.)

I almost put Tokyo Babylon on there, but decided I'm too likely to snap and buy that between now and Christmas.

My amazon wish list (http://amazon.com/o/registry/1YF4IUMZP4TIQ) is pretty much up to date. Admittedly it seems kind of silly to get me a lot of book-type stuff from Amazon when I can get it cheaper with my 33-40% employee discount at Borders (the discount that I am not, alas, paid enough to really take advantage of). However, several of the items on the list are not available from Borders anyway, esp. the stuff at the beginning. And I don't get much of a Borders discount on DVDs. And if Amazon's discount is 30% or more it's not a big difference anyway. And, of course, it's not like I'm gonna ask how much you paid for a gift and try and figure out if I could have gotten it cheaper myself!! So do what you like, I'm not going to complain. :-)

Could you point out some of the stuff you can't get at Borders?

None of the non-book items are at Borders. The DVDs I could probably special order from Borders if I tried, but I haven't checked. Of the books, the Georgia Nicholson and the three "Annotated" books are at Borders, but the discount is almost the same anyway (and sometimes Amazon's is better); the rest aren't in my store, though I haven't checked to see if they're special-orderable.

I think I made it overly complicated in my earlier comment. I think I've pretty much removed all the stuff that I could get more easily/significantly cheaper at Borders. I noticed that the Amazon discount is often between 30-40% anyway, virtually the same as my employee discount. So no worries. It's not like I'm such a champion of Borders that I think it deserves preferred patronage. :-)
