Women's rights pushed back twenty years, gays and lesbians relegated to second-class citizens, thousands of jobs shipped overseas, schools crippled, deaths of over a thousand U.S. citizens and thousands more of innocent nationals, taxes robbed from the poor and given to the rich, bullying in the international community, environment ravaged, privacy invaded, dissent silenced, propaganda proliferated, freedom restricted, and Tom DeLay promises us that with his new House majority, we can look forward to even more exciting things. Hold me back, oh, hold me back, the glorious patriotic love singing through my veins is making me dizzy. And oddly nauseous.

Of course, if by some far out chance Kerry wins the white house, he'll face four years of stonewalling and obstructionism from every other branch of the government, at the end of which people will point to him and say "See! He's an ineffective president!"

Seriously. This patriotic ferver-- I can't contain myself. Please, somebody fetch me a glass of cold water. And a gun, so I can f@#%ing shoot myself in the head.

[edit] This made me laugh, though.

Don't shoot yourself. Move with us to Canada instead.

You know, my response to that thought has always been "No way, if all the liberals move out of the country, then there won't be anyone left who cares enough to try and make things better." However, I think I'm getting to a point where I'm thinking "Y'know what? Fuck that. If they want the country so much they can bloody well have it, 'cause I'm starting to see less and less worth saving."

On the other hand, Canada will probably be crowded. I might try Australia or NZ instead.

Is it too soon to start the impeachment process? Or perhaps give the California seccessionist movement a little kick in the pants?

It's kind of hard to impeach the president when you don't control the House and Senate.

As a matter of fact, after four years of judicial appointments, there's not going to be a single branch of the government that even gives a shit about representing my interests. What happened to the purported system of checks and balances? Nobody's keeping tabs on that lunatic now.

I'm liking the secessionist idea, except then we'd still have Governer Schwarzeneggar.
