Blaaaa. Harry Potter is seen and I'm exhausted. More news later when I can move my fingers again.
Went to see Chamber of Secrets with someone from the anime club. Went to a theater about a zillion miles away from school, downhill all there. Harry Potter was sold out, so we bought tickets to see "The Ring" instead and ditched them once inside. Then went to see Harry Potter, and for the first time in several years I actually got inside the theater before the movie started.
It was pretty good. I don't care what anyone else says, Professor Snape is hot. And Lucius Malfoy is even hotter than his son, especially when he's all dolled up in Sleepy Hollow clothes. Yum.
Kenneth Branaugh made a wonderfully pompous Lockheart. And I quite liked the bit after the credits where we got to see his latest book. *heh* Still unimpressed by the guy who does Dumbledore, though he seemed slightly more awake this year.
And, though I'm not phobic of spiders, I was tempted to become so after that scene. O_o
The actors and special effect guys both seemed to have a better hang on what they were doing this time around, though I think the timing was off in several places. Overall 'twas better than the first, and I liked it more than the book. They actually removed, probably for time reasons, many things about the book that made me cringe, like Colin Creevey, and the way everyone was shunning Harry all year.
Parseltongue and Moaning Myrtle: both good things. The former was creepy and the latter was cute.
Now, going to work on the last of my story.

Date: 2002-11-30 12:46 am (UTC)I'm sure his ability to perform was limited because of his illness. Now that Richard Harris has passed away, it'll be interesting to see who will replace him. I almost think it would be more respectful for the script writer to find a way to write the character out rather than replace the actor. Of course, I haven't read any of the HP books, so I don't know anything about the plot of the third book/movie.
I've enjoyed both movies so far, and I have to agree that this second movie was actually a bit better, IMO (except for the sappy Hagrid worship at the end). *grin*

Date: 2002-11-30 03:19 am (UTC)hm. he's got a pretty big role in the third and fourth books. don't think it would really be feasible to write him out, though they may not have any other choice.

Date: 2002-11-30 03:28 am (UTC)I'm not certain if he was actually sick when he made the first movie. It's got to be difficult when a casting director must cast an older part. One never knows when a life-threatening illness might suddenly creep up. I realize that can happen at almost any age, but it's more likely with much older actors.
Hopefully if they recast the part the actor chosen will do a good job. He can't replace Richard Harris, but he can do his best to carry on in a way that would make him happy.
