Yeah... so, the sky was a nice pinkish tan color today, and it was over a hundred degrees.

Sometime this afternoon, I noticed my chest was hurting, as though I had gone swimming in chlorinated water. Not sure which to hope for:

1) That being sleep-deprived in San Fran all weekend has caused me to pick up some kind of chest cold, or

2) That the pretty pink sky is the result of lots of nasty stuff floating around in the air.

Yeah, well, it's snowing in Massachusetts.

It is?

They did warn is it might snow, though I didn't see any here in Boston, but then, it's several degrees warmer here than where you are. Or it might have snowed, but turned to rain before it hit the ground. I really couldn't say, I've been sleeping all day...

As far west as Spencer and Worcester, it snowed for several hours in the morning. I had to get up early to make sure the car was cleared off.

That "nasty stuff" floating around in the air is smoke. Reche Canyon burned (is burning? I don't know the current status) and I could see the smoke cloud from out here.

I'm just glad my parents live more in the valley now, once when we lived on the mountain I was kept at school because the mountain was burning. They wouldn't let me go home. :*-(

Yes, today it's obviously a smoke cloud. Fire season on Mount Baldy. Very depressing.

But yesterday I'm almost certain it wasn't a smoke cloud. It was too patchy and high up, and it was in the south sky instead of the north.

I promise it started yesterday! And anyway, there's a few fires going on. There was one in Burbank, and when it started to edge onto the golf course...

The golfers were still playing through.

Well, I guess you're right. And I'm not surprised about the golfers -- when I first got here last year, there was a big fire going up on the other side of the mountains, but people were still going up on the ski lifts!

*snarf* Amazing, isn't it? Wait for a rainstorm and then drive by a golf course. Those guys know perfectly well that they're walking lightning rods with their clubs and all. But I guarantee you, they're all still playing through.
