a little late, but...
Sep. 24th, 2003 02:29 amIsabel is old news, but this occured to me when I saw some of the Yahoo reports on it, and then what news articles were right next to them.
It would have made a great headline:
Tropical Storm Isabel killed dozens, left millions trapped without power, and shut down Washington. Could it have been deliberate?
"We are very seriously investigating this matter," a Homeland Security Dept. representative told the media on Tuesday. "It is very possible that there is a link to Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein here. They may even have been involved in previous, less successful hurricaines."
An unnamed source, self-identified as part of the terrorist bloc, came forward with an anonymous statement in the matter.
"Yes, the destruction was our doing," he said in a secret interview. "We prayed loudly and with all our hearts to Allah to strike down the infidels, and lo and behold he brought forth a mighty storm. He has looked down upon those who defy His will, and found them lacking, and so He called up a mighty flood to cleanse the world of the Americans. All the mighty faithful take heart at this success, and will be looking again towards future storms of Allah's mighty wrath."
Military officials said that they were "alarmed" by the development, but that they were already working on countermeasures.
"I figure earthquakes are the way to go now," one higher-up was reported to have said. "Failing that, we can always just bomb the holy living bejeezus out of everything again."
