bruises! and classes
Nov. 17th, 2004 12:25 pmTook another spill off my bike today, same as yesterday. This time was not able to roll, and crack my head against the pavement. Ow! Which you can imagine did not do much for my concentration on the Japanese test I was subsequently late for. ~_~;
Actually, what was hindering more was not the bruises and scrapes, which were minor, but feeling upset and more than a little pissed. Both today's and yesterday's falls were not my fault; the first time, a car turned in front of me without signaling, and today, a pedestrian who had been walking on the grass suddenly decided to jump on the sidewalk in front of me. I suppose it's too much to expect consideration, but I do wish that people would at least be conscious of the fact that a bike rider is subject to considerably more danger than a walker or a driver. I suppose if drivers cared about other people's safety they wouldn't buy SUVs.
Not feeling too good about tests this week. The big Psych test I thought was today -- was actually Monday; not only had I not put in the extensive study I'd planned to do Monday and Tuesday afternoon, I actually hadn't brought my textbook or the DSM-IV. *swears*
However. Today I feel very accomplished; I completed and submitted without fuss a minor declaration form, which makes me feel better overall about school. With the minor (Asian Studies, concentration Japan) in place, I no longer feel like half the classes I've taken at college were wasted or just for fun. I also met with my advisor to discuss registration for next semester. No fun classes next semester; Japanese and four core courses. As I mentioned briefly in a previous post, the Sci/Tech of the Ancient World history course is something I have to take now because it won't be offered again before I graduate, and the Philosophy of Science course is in much the same boat; if I don't take it now I'll be in trouble with getting into a senior seminar next year.
The other two courses are both physiological psychology, to fill out my requirement. Cognitive Neuroscience has a twice-a-week lab. Fun. Which I say with extreme sarcasm. So yeah, all business. No Alchemy, Scientists and Magicians; no Gnosticism; no History of Ancient Greece; no Tokugawa Literature in Translation. Hn.
This schedule is also looking like I won't have any slots open to work at the IT desk next semester. -_-; Unfortunately, that can't really be helped. I can look for other work, but given that very few new jobs open up in the Spring, I'm non-work-study, and can't work during the day, I might just have to bite the bullet and go broke next semester. Broke-er.
